DENTSPLY Tulsa Dental Specialties Sets a “Blue” Standard

DENTSPLY Tulsa Dental Specialties today introduced a new rotary endodontic file – Vortex Blue™.

Utilizing a new and proprietary method of processing of NiTi wire that results in a Blue titanium oxide layer, Vortex Blue has a visibly new approach to metallurgy. Vortex Blue features the same patented variable helical angle design as the original ProFile^® Vortex^® that clinicians have come to know and trust for efficiency and dependable clinical outcomes.

Vortex Blue also offers a leap forward in resistance to cyclic fatigue – the leading cause of file separation¹ – with a minimum of a 65 percent improvement over M-Wire^® NiTi and a minimum of 99 percent improvement over standard NiTi^* (maximum results up to 353 percent better). In addition to significantly greater resistance to cyclic fatigue, Vortex Blue delivers at least 42 percent higher peak torque strength over M-Wire NiTi^* (maximum results up to 126 percent better).

KOMET USA Launches Extra-Long, “Perio-Length” Diamond for Crown Preparation

Developed to address crown-preparation requirements in cases presenting gingival recession, the KOMET® S6856XL.FG.021 diamond features a 12-mm. working length. This extra-long, “perio-length” diamond allows the operator to maintain ideal position and angle of the handpiece and avoid interference with adjacent teeth, thus permitting the precise preparation and refinement of optimal crown margins at the proper angle in patients who have longer, exposed crown lengths.

To achieve the desired surface roughness in particular cases, subsequent application of a matching-length finishing diamond, the KOMET® 8856XL.FG.021 instrument, is recommended. This instrument is specifically designed to correspond to the extra-long, crown-preparation diamond and to simplify finishing procedures in cases where gingival recession is present and in other cases requiring an instrument with a longer working head.

New Purge Pump Enables Plumbing in Dental Operatories

set up a dental office without plumbing. The system now uses an electric purge pump that can be turned on to siphon the liquid from the suction holding tank and empty out though the purge hose at the end of the day’s procedures. This new design can easily pull granular or sticky paste materials without plugging or coming into contact with any of the pumps inner components. The purge hose can be simply unwound and placed into a sink drain or quick connected to a sink’s P-trap.

Articulating Arm Tray

ASI’s Articulating Arm Tray provides swiveling aluminum extension arms along with a 90_2804_tray_adj_arm
locking gas piston mechanism for effortless height adjustment. The arm tray attaches to any ASI cart and can be floated over or near the patient for access. A lever release handle operates the gas piston to allow the arm tray to be positioned at the desired height; the tray has a range of motion of 18” and can reach out 34”. The tray holder accommodates "B" size dental trays of 13 1/2" width by 9 5/8" depth.
