Carestream Health’s Digital Imaging Team Receives Israeli National Quality and Excellence Award

Company’s Computed Radiography Organization in Yokneam, Israel, Recognized With Prestigious Quality Award Presented by Israeli Minister of Industry & Trade

Carestream Health has received the National Quality and Excellence Award from the Israeli government for its outstanding achievements and continuous improvement in the area of computed radiography (CR).

This award—honoring the late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin—is the most prestigious award of its kind in Israel, and recognizes Israeli organizations for excellence and a commitment to quality. The competitive application process and evaluation is sponsored by the Prime Minister’s Office and managed by the Ministry of Industry & Trade, the National Institute of Standards and the Israeli Society for Quality.

The Israeli National Quality and Excellence Award is based on U.S. Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award established by the U.S. Congress and is awarded annually by the President of the Unites States. Carestream applied for the Israeli award at the beginning of 2011 and went through a long evaluation process by an independent board of examiners in seven critical areas:

  • Leadership
  • Strategic planning
  • Customer focus
  • Measurement, analysis and knowledge management
  • Workforce focus
  • Process management; and
  • Results

The National Quality and Excellence Award recognizes the achievements of Carestream’s Israeli organization that is responsible for designing and developing the company’s line of tabletop CR systems that enable medical professionals to acquire patient X-ray images digitally. Israel has created an environment that has helped nurture many successful healthcare and technology companies, including Carestream’s Yokneam team which continues to produce outstanding technology and market-leading medical imaging innovations.

Carestream manufactures its CR systems in multiple locations worldwide and supplies these high-quality CR systems for use in clinics, imaging centers and specialty markets such as orthopedics, veterinary and dentistry. These proven CR units are some of the most versatile and flexible compact digital X-ray systems available.

DENTSPLY Tulsa Dental Specialties Sets a “Blue” Standard

DENTSPLY Tulsa Dental Specialties today introduced a new rotary endodontic file – Vortex Blue™.

Utilizing a new and proprietary method of processing of NiTi wire that results in a Blue titanium oxide layer, Vortex Blue has a visibly new approach to metallurgy.  Vortex Blue features the same patented variable helical angle design as the original ProFile® Vortex® that clinicians have come to know and trust for efficiency and dependable clinical outcomes.

Vortex Blue also offers a leap forward in resistance to cyclic fatigue – the leading cause of file separation1 – with a minimum of a 65 percent improvement over M-Wire® NiTi and a minimum of 99 percent improvement over standard NiTi* (maximum results up to 353 percent better).  In addition to significantly greater resistance to cyclic fatigue, Vortex Blue delivers at least 42 percent higher peak torque strength over M-Wire NiTi* (maximum results up to 126 percent better).

KOMET USA Launches Extra-Long, “Perio-Length” Diamond for Crown Preparation

Developed to address crown-preparation requirements in cases presenting gingival recession, the KOMET® S6856XL.FG.021 diamond features a 12-mm. working length. This extra-long, “perio-length” diamond allows the operator to maintain ideal position and angle of the handpiece and avoid interference with adjacent teeth, thus permitting the precise preparation and refinement of optimal crown margins at the proper angle in patients who have longer, exposed crown lengths.

To achieve the desired surface roughness in particular cases, subsequent application of a matching-length finishing diamond, the KOMET® 8856XL.FG.021 instrument, is recommended. This instrument is specifically designed to correspond to the extra-long, crown-preparation diamond and to simplify finishing procedures in cases where gingival recession is present and in other cases requiring an instrument with a longer working head.
