Jordco

Jordco, Inc., was established in 1979 by James Johnsen, DMD, and Hal Oien, DMD, while attending Screen_shot_2011-12-28_at_3.05.24_PM

the Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) School of Dentistry in Portland, Oregon. Jordco is an acronym for Johnsen Oien Research and Development Company. It not only incorporates the names of the founders, but also includes the basic commitment to continue the research and development of dental products that make procedures easier, safer, and more productive.

During their junior year of clinical training in endodontics, it became apparent to Drs. Johnsen and Oien that the handling of sharp and contaminated dental files was dangerous and lacked organization. From their experiences working in the undergraduate endodontic clinics, the concept of Jordco’s flagship product, the original Endoring® (Figure 1) was formed. The original Endoring® was designed on a napkin, and the early prototypes were constructed with pink denture wax and cast from copper pennies. Early design engineering was often done at the kitchen table, and prototypes were built and tested in the dental school student simulation laboratory.

Today, SS White Burs, Inc., is a family owned and operated US-based business with more than 250 employees and worldwide distribution. Its corporate roots are found in the history of Samuel Stockton White, who began his career as an apprenticing dentist and ventured into his own business in 1844, manufacturing porcelain teeth, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The company proudly bears the name of its founder and continually maintains its original objective: better products for better dentistry.

Vatech is a leading provider of dental digital radiography and offers the most diverse product portfolio, including cone beam CT, panoramic imaging, cephalometric, and intraoral sensors. Vatech is dedicated solely to innovative digital x-ray imaging technologies to aid dentists and their patients. Vatech develops and manufactures its own digital radiographic sensors, the most critical component of diagnostic x-ray systems.

Vatech was established in early 1992 in South Korea. Starting as an industrial equipment manufacturer, Vatech quickly realized the need to bring quality, well-made dental digital radiography products to the market. In 2002, it released the first digital panoramic x-ray unit into the South Korean market. In 2005, Vatech developed the world’s first 3-in-1 dental digital radiography unit allowing cone beam CT, panoramic, and cephalometric functions to be used in one platform.
